West Middle School supports Food Bank of the Rockies

Peanut butter and jelly!

That was the answer to the question “What do most kids like to eat?”

Members of the West Middle School Student Council pondered that question as part of the school’s annual fall community service project. In the past, the school has put together care packages for servicemen and women, done a sock drive for needy families and several other worthwhile projects.

They learned that the organization feeds over 411,000 people annually and often runs low on non-perishable foods that children like to eat. So the students decided to do a peanut butter and jelly drive. The response was overwhelming. West collected 898 jars of peanut butter and jelly.

“The simple act of making a PBJ feels like something real and tangible our kids can do to help fight hunger in our community,” said Liz Mulroney, West Student Council sponsor. “Our students showed incredible grit and determination in making this food drive a success.”
