Mountain Vista Elementary School dedicated

Mountain Vista Elementary School, the newest school in the Cherry Creek School District, was dedicated by the Cherry Creek Schools Board of Education on June 16. The Board recognized the architect, OZ Architecture of Denver, and the general contractor, Bassett and Associates, Inc., during its regular board meeting, which was held in the gymnasium of the $17 million, energy-efficient school.

“This is an amazing building,” said Mountain Vista Principal Toby Arritola, of the two-story school, which is located in the Copperleaf neighborhood in Aurora and has a beautiful, uninterrupted view of the Front Range. Due to the school’s location, the panoramic view will not be affected by future construction.

Mountain Vista served 300 preschoolers during the 13-14 school year, and will add kindergarten through fifth grade for the 14-15 school year.

“We have an amazing cadre of teachers and an amazing opportunity to serve students,” said Arritola. “Come August 11, we’re going to rock and roll!”

August 11 will be the first day of the new school year at Mountain Vista. Construction of the school was made possible by voters who approved the 2008 bond issue.
