CCSD webmaster manages massive resource

Hinton, Cari 2.jpgAs the sole webmaster for Cherry Creek Schools, Cari Hinton manages a website that includes 111 school and department sites. The district site alone has more than 50,000 pages, a number that increases every day. The site gets more than 5 million hits annually and is a vital resource for current and prospective parents and staff.

"Being a parent myself, I know how critical getting information is,” said Hinton, who, with husband Mike, has three children; Jayda, 15, Keanan, 12 and Trey, 10. “Being able to go to a website and locate the information you need is invaluable.”

Hinton hails from central Illinois and earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and computer science from Western Illinois University. She started with the district in May 1999, when the CCSD website was much different than it is today.

“When I first started working here, I updated all the content on all the district and school sites myself,” Hinton recalled. Today, schools and departments are able to update their own content, thanks to a content management system Hinton helped implement six years ago. It allows the district to keep web content much more current and relevant. Now Hinton spends more of her time training others, which is her favorite part of the job.
