Holly Hills Elementary wins Groove DRIVE for education grant

The students in Sheryl Frye’s fourth grade class at Holly Hills Elementary won’t have any trouble hearing her in the future. That’s because Frye received a $3,500 Groove DRIVE for education grant from Groove Auto, which she plans to use for a classroom audio sound system.

“I would wear a microphone and my voice would be projected so the students can hear and interact with me better,” Frye said. She explained that being able to hear sounds and words clearly is important for all students, especially students who are learning English.

Frye and two of her students, Mila Cooper and Erick Arredondo Cordero, along with the school’s principal, Chad Gerity, technology teacher Emily Stout and instructional coach Roberta Reed, attended the event. Groove presented thousands of dollars in grants to local schools. Ten dollars from the sale of every vehicle at Groove’s 22 metro area locations goes toward DRIVE for education grants.

“It’s inspiring and uplifting to know that there are companies dedicated to making sure education is getting the support it needs to give kids everything they need,” Principal Chad Gerity said.
