Julie Danneberg, an English teacher at Falcon Creek Middle School, has dedicated her latest picture book to Falcon Creek students and staff.

The book, Fieldtrip Fiasco, is the latest in her series that chronicles the adventures and misadventures of Mrs. Sarah Jane Hartwell, an exuberant elementary school teacher. The series includes the popular First Day Jitters, and highlights the fun and frustration of everyday classroom life. In Fieldtrip Fiasco the class sets out on a visit to the zoo. As you might guess, madness and mayhem ensue, but luckily, Mrs. Hartwell’s flexibility and quick thinking save the day.

When writing her humorous picture books, Danneberg often asks students for suggestions and admits that they are a constant source of inspiration. The School Library Journal said that the book was “chockfull of humor and truth” and that “both teachers and their students will find it easy to relate to the characters and situations.”

Danneberg also has a nonfiction picture book, titled Muir Wrestles a Waterfall, coming out in early March.
