Falcon Creek Middle School “No Place for Hate”

Falcon Creek Middle School has partnered with Denver’s Anti-Defamation League to become the Cherry Creek School District’s first middle school designated as a NO PLACE FOR HATE school. After a year-long project, 30 8th grade student-leaders and FCMS sponsors Stephany Garbett, Counselor, Corbin Woodward, Counselor, and Shelly Gardner SAS Teacher, were presented with the official school banner.

Throughout the year, the student leaders attended training sessions presented by the Anti-Defamation League, made posters to hang throughout the school, and created videos to be shown in the classrooms that modeled how not to be an innocent bystander when it comes to opposing hate.

Principal Lisa Ruiz was one of the first to sign a Resolution of Respect pledge, followed by over 900 6th, 7th and 8th graders that signed Falcon Pledge Feathers.  These Falcon Feathers hang in the hallways to remind students each day that they have pledged to combat all forms of prejudice and discrimination, and to make a positive impact in their community.

Way to go, Falcon Creek!
