Challenge students help Colorado Mathcounts team make top 10 at Nationals

The Colorado Mathcounts team won 10th place in the National Mathcounts competition on Friday, May 9th in Orlando, Florida.  The team is led by Challenge School math teacher Matt Bixby and consists of two Challenge School students - seventh-grader Anjalie Kini and eighth-grader Isani Singh - and two students from Longmont.
The Raytheon MATHCOUNTS competition brings together the best and brightest middle-school mathematicians from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories and schools from the Departments of Defense and State. The multi-day competition at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort included a written exam and ended with the tense Countdown Round, where the top 12 competitors went head-to-head answering questions. After hours of intense competition, the participants had a chance to put their math skills to action designing and riding their own rollercoaster at Raytheon’s Sum of All Thrills™ at INNOVENTIONS at Epcot® at the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Congratulations to the Colorado Mathcounts team!
