Community partners support Cimarron students

Unloading donated school suppliesCimarron Elementary students and teachers don’t have to worry about running out of school supplies any time soon, thanks to the generosity of community partners U.S. Bank and its subsidiary Elavon. On Aug. 23, the businesses dropped off several boxes of items that are essential to school success.

Donated school supplies“We have everything from composition notebooks to pencil boxes to rulers,” said Alexia Hammer, a software quality assurance manager with Elavon. She explained that U.S Bank and Elavon employees who work at a location near Cimarron donated the items during the last two weeks as part of the companies’ back to school community service campaign. “It’s our way of serving our community and giving back,” Hammer added.

Cimarron school supply donationsCimarron Principal Amanda Sheets said the supplies will be put to good use by the school’s 470 students, especially as the school year continues.

“They’re writing all the time. They’re journaling and getting their thinking down and they’re drawing and being creative,” Sheets explained. She added that the donations also help students understand the concept of community.

“Our values are community, growth and joy and this first half of the year we are focusing on community,” Sheets said. “We truly appreciate the partnership.”
