Board of Education recognizes award-winning schools
The Cherry Creek Schools Board of Education and Superintendent Harry Bull recognized 22 award-winning schools at the board's January 13 meeting.

Ponderosa Elementary, represented by Principal Elizabeth Sloan, was recognized for being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

Eight schools were recognized for receiving the 2013 John Irwin Schools of Excellence Award for outstanding academic achievement. They are: Campus Middle School, Challenge School, Cherry Creek Academy, Cherry Creek High School, Coyote Hills Elementary, Homestead Elementary, Rolling Hills Elementary and West Middle School.

Six schools were recognized for receiving the 2013 Governor's Distinguished Improvement Award for outstanding academic growth. They are: Antelope Ridge Elementary, Canyon Creek Elementary, Fox Hollow Elementary, High Plains Elementary, Peakview Elementary and Pine Ridge Elementary.

Seven schools were recognized for winning both the 2013 John Irwin Schools of Excellence Award and the 2013 Governor's Distinguished Improvement Award. They are: Belleview Elementary, Cherry Hills Village Elementary, Cottonwood Creek Elementary, Dry Creek Elementary, Greenwood Elementary, Indian Ridge Elementary and Willow Creek Elementary.

Congratulations to these schools and their outstanding students, staff and communities!
