Celebrating the Summer Fitness Challenge

Nearly 50 students across the Cherry Creek School District participated in the 2017 Summer Fitness Challenge to record their physical activity and convert minutes into miles. Almost everyone who participated achieved an ultra-marathon of activity. That’s 100 miles or more!

All students who recorded an ultra-marathon were entered to win two passes to Jumpstreet or Jumpoline Family Fun Center.  Congratulations to the following winners! Maia Howell, Cimarron, Jenna Huston, Aspen Crossing, Luca Dispense, Belleview, Sharon Kim, Creekside, Sophia Liley, Black Forest Hills, Karthik Mandala, Campus Middle School.

Being committed to regular physical activity is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle.  Physical activity benefits our bodies and our minds by reducing stress, increasing our ability to concentrate and more.

Students also set three goals at the beginning of the summer on their tracking form. Here some of the goals they worked toward this summer:

•    Learn to ride my bike with the training wheels off.
•    Eat more food to grow big and strong.
•    Read 50 books.
•    Create a song on the piano.
•    Eat less sugar.
•    Learn to tie my shoes.
•    Be outside every day.
•    Walk my dogs.
•    Swim in the ocean.
•    Have fun!
