SHHS Buffaloes dance, dub and make dreams come true during Wish Week

student government members at smoky hill circle around a smiling Andalyn.Smoky Hill High School’s 2016 Wish Week, held January 25-30, was filled with fun and fundraising, dancing and dubbing, and making a special dream come true for a sweet six-year-old fighting intestinal failure and heart complications. Andalyn’s wish was to celebrate her sixth birthday in Disney World. SHHS students made that wish come true by raising $32,248 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which sent Andalyn and her family to the famed Florida theme park earlier this month.

Andalyn runs through the smoky hill gym with her pink minnie mouse hat and green smoky hill shirt. Students raised the money by organizing and hosting several events, including the Mr. and Ms. Smoky Hill contest, a DECA Marketplace Carnival, a trivia bowl, a boys’ volleyball tournament and a girls’ “Power Buff” football game. They wrapped up their successful Wish Week with an assembly featuring Andalyn as their special guest.  During the assembly, SHHS teachers did a dance that ended with Andalyn's favorite song, the "Disney Junior DJ Shuffle.”
