 Career Connections

Career Connections is a program designed to connect students with career pathways of interest by partnering with business in the community.  Through experiences including Career Exploration class, career readiness training, career tours, career shadowing, career days, internships and apprenticeships, students will have the opportunity to explore career pathways and develop career readiness shills. Career Connections is offered through the Career and Technical Education Department of Cherry Creek Schools.

Program Offerings:

Career Exploration

Career Exploration is a year-long class that is designed to help students explore careers and career pathways in context of their personal interests, strengths and preferences.  Key concepts of focus include:  Career Awareness, Financial Literacy, Personal Message, Employment Skills, Understanding of Career Pathways and Self -knowledge. 

 

Career Exploration Internship

Students who have successful complete the Career Exploration curriculum may be eligible for an internship in an industry of interest.  Internships are broadly educational in scope and allow students to have an experience in a career field they would like to pursue upon graduation.

 

Executive Internship

The Executive Internship Program will provide an opportunity for selected students to have experience in a career field that they would like to pursue after graduation. An academic internship is a form of firsthand learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skill development in a professional setting. Internships are unpaid.

 

Apprenticeship

Cherry Creek School District will work collaboratively with CareerWise and industry partners to create an apprenticeship program unique to the individual students' interests and abilities. Typically the apprenticeships are 2-3 years in length.  Eligibility depends on student's maturity, responsibility, reliability and graduation status.
